What is Child Dedication?
A Child dedication service is an opportunity for parents to publicly acknowledge that their child is a gift and a reward from God and as fruit of their relationship. It is a public declaration of their gratitude and in response to God's blessing they are dedicating their child for the purpose of consecration and releasing God's divine blessings. It is an act of faith that their child will one day make a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ and surrender their lives for His purpose.
SCRIPTURAL BASIS
I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.β And he worshiped the Lord there. 1 Samuel 1:27β28
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, βLet the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.β And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16
