Rising Above Low Self-Esteem

Take Notes and Email It To Yourself

Take notes as you listen during Sunday's service. Once you're done, you can email it to yourself by entering your email below. Have a blessed Sunday!

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

WHAT IS SELF-ESTEEM?

Self-Esteem has important effects for psychological and spiritual health.

How we see ourselves is important because it leads to how we FEEL about ourselves and what we BELIEVE we’re CAPABLE OF BECOMING

If a person’s self-image is distorted, that person’s self-esteem will be distorted as well.

WHAT TRIGGERS LOW SELF-ESTEEM & HOW DO WE RISE ABOVE IT?

1) OUR PAST

“Don’t remember the prior things; don’t ponder ancient history. Look! I’m doing a new thing; now it sprouts up; don’t you recognize it?” Isaiah 43:18-19 (CEB)

Be in the moment. See what God’s doing today. Take it day by day.

2) WE COMPARE & SEEK PEOPLE’S APPROVAL

"For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly (with absolute honesty), as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith." Romans 12:3

Be grateful with who you are and what you have– Value yourself.

Be grateful with who they are and what they have– Value others.

Each one of us has our unique calling and purpose.

3) WE FORGET WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST

“Be still and know I am God.” Psalm 46:10

Remember the cross. Remember His purpose.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

John 3:16-17

Never forget what Jesus did for us at the cross.
